The screen where the reality becomes art

CRONOGRAF Festival is the only documentary film festival and is held once a year in Republic of Moldova in Chisinau beginning since 2001. This event bloomed at the initiative of a group of young enthusiasts, organized by the OWH Studio, who wanted to animate the Moldova’s cultural life and to bring closer to the local public art documentaries from all around the world. From one edition to another, CRONOGRAF increases the quality and number of films entered in competition and attracts more and more national and international partners and broader audience. At the festival, filmmakers around the world have the opportunity to know and to promote their works in a new space for them in front of an audience that has few opportunities to watch film productions of the moment.

Our goals for this project are:
• a high quality cultural event accessible to the general public;
• Presence of diverse range of documentary films (geographic and style diversity);
• Synchronization with new trends in documentary production and movie distribution;
• Creating a favorable environment of communication and cooperation between cinema of Moldova and the cinema of other countries of the world, particularly Europe and CIS;
• stimulate and promote local video production, especially film production;
• Integration of Chisinau in a circuit of European culture.

Cronograf Festival has two international sections and one local section:

Main Section

The competition is opened for the documentaries all around the world, without any thematical restrictions, with exception of political, religious and other kind of propaganda.

cadRo Section
The CadRO Section was launched in 2007 and soon became a tradition within the International Documentay Film Festival CRONOGRAF. Romanian authors, as well as foreign ones are invited to take part to this section with documentaries about romanian people and romanian comunities from all over the world. CadRO Section is unique by its particularity in the list of film festivals in the world, and offers an overview image of the life and destiny of those who call themselves Romanian, no matter where they live.

Local TV Productions Section

At this section are included productions of local TV stations and independent studios.

Besides the competition sections (Documentary Film Section and cadRO section) the program of CRONOGRAF Festival includes workshops, meetings, premiers and special screenings, a day dedicated to documentaries from a specific country etc.

Relaxed atmosphere during the festival breaks the barriers of formal communication and provide a space full of positive emotions and warmth.
